Back Home !!

So that's it folks !

13, 136 kms Across Canada and Back !!!

Until the next time !!

Cheers !!!!

Not All Who Wander ….

And back when we did our Nashville trip we still sometimes laugh about the guy who passed us on his Harley and gave us the fist pump or thumb's up !
On the back of his Harley he had "Not All Wanderer's are lost"  !!!!
We thought that was so appropriate and timely!!

Well, we passed this guy on the last leg of the trip heading home ! We thought it was so funny and another little reminder of the trip !!

🤣🤣🤣

Interesting Folks

And along the way we met some interesting folks…..

When Chris took us to see the locks and we me the gentleman in Morrisburg who asks me if I needed help when I was looking at the St Lawerence River. He was just sitting in his car, seeming to want to to chat……having been on the Lake boats for 10 years but quit and took a gov't job in Ottawa so he could watch his daughter grow up. He travelled to 80 kms to work everyday for 30 years. He talked about them travelling down east ….He's 89 now …. And still quite sharp (but obvious lonely …)

The lady at the desk in Pincher Creek …. She was from Chatham, NB ….. no about how nice the drive to Waterton was …. (But it was Karen's nephew Cory who told us it was a great place to see)

And the couple from NFLD ….. we passed an RV and I noticed they had NL plates. An hour or so later we stopped for a sandwich and gas at this small gas station and the RV pulled up….we got chatting ….. they were from Springdale … lived in Alberta … gave their daughter the trailer they had, and got the RV … he doesn't drive it though, only her….. they had a boarder from Bishops Falls once ….
We were chatting away, they were a little older than us … and I happened to look around and realized there line-ups on both sides of the pumps ….. !!!
We said we better get moving, said a quick good-bye and as I was leaving apologized to the guy in the line-up for holding everyone up while we chatted !
'That's ok' he said …. 'I'm from Newfoundland' …. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

And there was the sales lady in Waterton who checked in the rolling pin with the embossed decorations imprinted in it.
We were joking about roller pins and she pipes up "Careful" she said to Karen, "that one leaves a mark" ….. and she looked at me and laughed …….

Heading East !

And for heading East we took a slightly different route in BC
Going west we followed the TCH - theRogers Pass. It really didn't make any difference to us as we hadn't been on it before and it was all new to us !!!
Coming back we took the Crow's Nest Pass !
Both great runs for sure !!

Leaving Vancouver (Langley is where we stayed overnight) we stayed in Castlegar, Pincher Creek, Swift Current, Steinbach, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Ottawa and Casselman.
We followed route 3 in BC to Alberta and we stopped in Hope, Princeton, Caedmon, Osoyoos, through Stagleap Provincial Park (a very high elevation and 2 degree temps), Creaton, Cranbrook, Fernie, a Waterton, Coaldale, Kenora and Dryden !

Ottawa

It was a great start and a great finish !!

Now it's time to hit the road to home.
Tonight we stay in Casselman, just outside town for a good start in the morning.
And the town of Casselman itself, what a nice little town !!

Now that was fun !!!

It's a 1940 Waco Bi-plane !
With an open air cockpit !!!!

Why wouldn’t You !!!!

And what we really came for …….

The Aviation Museum

And we had to check out the Aviation Museum in Ottawa !!

And speaking on smoke …

Yes, as we got closer to Ottawa you could see smoke from forest fires 🔥!

BBQ Anyone ??

Now that's a bbq !! And a smoker !!! All in one !!
And you can take it with you !!!!

Dryden

Along the way

We did make a couple of other stops before we got to Ottawa …. Kenora and Dryden, ON
Both nice towns, very outdoors oriented (it's seems).

Heading West

Attached is an outline of the trip heading west …. Thanks to google maps …

We left home on June 1st (actually, May 30th, remember …) and headed to Ottawa…. Then overnights in Sault Ste Marie, on to Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, Winnipeg, Regina, Brooks(AB), Calgary, Golden, Kamloops and Vancouver (Langley).
Along the way we visited Morrisburg to Johnstown(ON), Wawa, Terrace Bay, the Terry Fox Memorial, Kakabeka Falls, Rainey River, Baudette (MN), Steinbach (MB), Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Moosomin(SK), Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat, High River, Okotoks, Longview, Millarville, Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, drove the Roger's Pass, Revelstoke, Hope (BC) through Chilliwack on to Stanley Park in Vancouver.
We left June 1st, and 6880 kms later we arrived in Vancouver on June 18th !
Not bad at all !!!🚗

… On the road again …

Wednesday, June 21, 2023

And it's on the road again as we say 'good-bye' to Waterton and 'The Chief'.
(The peak in the pic is known as 'The Chief'. It's in the Glacier National Park on the USA side)

This one …

… or this one …

I think the 2nd looks better ! 😂

Around Town …

So Close

But yet, so far away ! 😂

Talk about being on both side of the 'fence' …. 'Line' ….. 'boundary' …… should I go on … 😂

‘The Parc’

Wednesday, June 21, 2023

After a visit to the hotel it was time to check out the town of Waterton.
It's actually in a national park and only has about 400 residents.
(and I would think the majority are mostly seasonal)
