The Canadian Mint

Yes, we had to take a tour of 'The Mint'!!!
It's where all the Canadian coins are 'minted'.
Actually, they are stamped - basically with a die (dye ?). They can put out approximately 15 million pieces in a day!
What I didn't know it's actually a profit making business (ok, go ahead, say it, …. Or course they do, they make money !🤣).
The Canadian Mint makes coins for over 30 or more countries. They win contracts just like other businesses.
The pic of the flags below represents the countries the mint does, or has, made 'money' for !
We weren't allowed to take any pics inside but somebody did get their hands on a "Loonie" while we were there.
(Did you know the loonie wasn't the planned emblem for the coin. Believe it or not, it was suppose to be an image of a canoe in a lake with trees in the background. But the original 'die' got lost in transit From Ottawa to Winnipeg ! Can you believe it !!
They couldn't take any chances it had fallen into the wrong hands so the made another original ! The lost piece has never been found!!
