And along the way we met some interesting folks…..
When Chris took us to see the locks and we me the gentleman in Morrisburg who asks me if I needed help when I was looking at the St Lawerence River. He was just sitting in his car, seeming to want to to chat……having been on the Lake boats for 10 years but quit and took a gov't job in Ottawa so he could watch his daughter grow up. He travelled to 80 kms to work everyday for 30 years. He talked about them travelling down east ….He's 89 now …. And still quite sharp (but obvious lonely …)
The lady at the desk in Pincher Creek …. She was from Chatham, NB ….. no about how nice the drive to Waterton was …. (But it was Karen's nephew Cory who told us it was a great place to see)
And the couple from NFLD ….. we passed an RV and I noticed they had NL plates. An hour or so later we stopped for a sandwich and gas at this small gas station and the RV pulled up….we got chatting ….. they were from Springdale … lived in Alberta … gave their daughter the trailer they had, and got the RV … he doesn't drive it though, only her….. they had a boarder from Bishops Falls once ….
We were chatting away, they were a little older than us … and I happened to look around and realized there line-ups on both sides of the pumps ….. !!!
We said we better get moving, said a quick good-bye and as I was leaving apologized to the guy in the line-up for holding everyone up while we chatted !
'That's ok' he said …. 'I'm from Newfoundland' …. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
And there was the sales lady in Waterton who checked in the rolling pin with the embossed decorations imprinted in it.
We were joking about roller pins and she pipes up "Careful" she said to Karen, "that one leaves a mark" ….. and she looked at me and laughed …….
