Summer Solstice

June 21st in Providence, Rhode Island.

It's the longest day of the year !! And we made the most of it.

After lunch today we left New Bedford and headed to Providence for the afternoon and night.

I great idea it was and what an awesome downtown. (We're just getting in from watching an outdoor concert ....at 1030 we're not usually out and about....).

One of the guys that played was a fella by the name of Mark Cut Ridge (I think). He was good and apparently a bit of a legend in RI they were saying....

Without getting into the details I'll just send along some pics..and I'll send along some others separately...

June 21st New Bedford, Mass.

After a good night rest we were up early and off to New Bedd-fuhd (ha - its New Bedford, but as they say in the Bauston .....)

Packing up the bike I met an interesting character by the name if Allan. He was an architect from up state New York who owned a couple of bikes and was interested in what we were up to.....

At 900 this morning it was 79 degrees on the bike. What a day.

New Bedford is a pretty historic fishing town for sure. It's water front is a working waterfront as I read somewhere. It's amazing the number of fishing boats, trawlers....

The historic downtown is like Halifax on steroids. A lot of history, a lot of historic buildings.

Attached are a couple of pics.

Tuesday July 20th

After a night in Bangor, our first destination point, it was a where do we go from here.

Looking at our timelines and the weather we decided the mid 90s F. Was too hot to be on a bike and way too long in order  to get to the Jersey Shore area. That was their for cast for this week.

The next idea was to head to Rhode Island and Connecticut area and take it from there.

We finally made it around Boston late in the afternoon and found a Country Inn just off the highway in Brockton, Mass.
The goal was Providence but it was, believe it or not, too hot (it's only June and the bike was showing 91degrees F.). So, after 2 thumbs up, a peace sign, and a wave from passing trucks/cars it was time to call it a day.
