Cold Kentucky Rain

Well, that's what Elvis said his song anyway. I don't know about cold, but sure rains in Kentucky.

We were late leaving this morning because of the heavy rain (my dragging my butt out of bed late had nothing to do with it ). As a result of the weather we didn't get to take any shots today so I just randomly picked a few to post.

Although you won't see it from our photos, the Kentucky landscape is beautiful. Full trees, a lot of rolling green pastures, and very scenic. A very gentle view. The exception to this is along the eastern side of the state in the Daniel Boone State Park where there are some serious hills.
But on the western side, and south towards Tennessee where we've travelled, it is very picturesque, especially when you see ranch style fences with the horses and other livestock, cows and bulls, roaming. (and joking aside, there are a lot of pick-ups pulling horse trailers)

When we left Memphis and travelled north toward Kentucky it was very flat. You could see the fields for acres and acres. Whereas the eastern side of Tennessee was all about the mountains - Blue Ridge Trail, Smokey Mountains - around Gatlinburg.
North of Tennessee as we travelled down through the east side of West Virginia and the western side of Virginia and the Skyline Drive, again, it was mountains. ( If I lost you, I just traced our path backwards to try and make it confusing !! Ha! ).

So today we left Bardstown and headed east. First to Winchester. This is Winchester, Ky, not the one in Virginia. That's something else I noticed. It's amazing how many states have towns of the same name. It's not just Nova Scotia and Scotland ! At least Nova Scotia put 'New' in front of it ! Ha!

So tonight we are in Huntington, Virginia. That's about 10 or 15 miles from the Kentucky border and right on the bank of the Ohio River. We didn't cross the bridge ( yet ) to say we did travel to Ohio !

It was a pretty un eventful day today.
We were talking to a guy outside tonite at the entrance. He saw us at the bike and started chatting. After a while he said something to the effect, I wouldn't have known you were from Canada, you sound like everybody else ! Ha! I dunno what he was expecting......
